The
chances of Diego Costa rejoining Atletico Madrid tonight are "unlikely, but
not impossible", according to Sky sources.
Costa has made it clear he wants to rejoin Atletico after being told he is
not in Antonio Conte's Chelsea plans for the season.
The Spanish club are banned from registering new players before January and
have so far offered only half what Chelsea want for the striker.
One option being actively pursued is finding a club for Costa to join on
loan until January.
A source close to the negotiations told
Sky Sports News the chances
of a last-minute deal being struck are becoming "improbable, but in football
nothing is impossible".
Costa, who has won two Premier League titles in three years since joining
Chelsea from Atletico for £32m, is effectively on strike having refused to
return to pre-season training in July.
