Sarri's contractual situation with Napoli is expected to be sorted out by
the end of June, according to Sky in Italy.
Napoli have already confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will take over from Sarri
and that move will be announced officially on July 1.
Sky in Italy say the Serie A club are unlikely to want two managers of that
level on their wage bill at the same time.
However, Sarri's departure from Napoli has been complicated over the Italian
club's compensation demands.
Chelsea could have to pay £4.5m if they were to employ Sarri before July 1
but that figure would go up to £7m after that date.
The Blues would also have to compensate current manager Antonio Conte to
cover the final year of his contract.
A source told
Sky Sports News earlier this week that Sarri's
representative is in London to finalise a deal for him to take over at
Stamford Bridge.
It is also understood that Sarri already has a backroom staff in place which
includes former Chelsea player Gianfranco Zola.
Zola had been working at the World Cup in Russia for a South African
broadcaster but has now flown back to London.
Chelsea have so far refused to comment on their managerial situation.
