Manchester United have been drawn to play Burton Albion in the third round
of the Carabao Cup, while Liverpool will travel to Leicester in an
all-Premier League tie.
The draw, which was made in Beijing on Thursday morning - starting around
4.30am in the UK - handed Jose Mourinho's side a home tie against the Sky
Bet Championship side as they start the defence of the trophy they won by
beating Southampton 3-2 in the final at Wembley last season.
There will be four all-Premier League fixtures in the third round, including
the first tie out of the hat which pitted Manchester City against West Brom
at The Hawthorns, while Liverpool, fresh from their 6-3 aggregate win over
Hoffenheim in their Champions League play-off, visit the King Power Stadium.
Chelsea will start their domestic cup competition at home to Nottingham
Forest after Mark Warburton's side beat Newcastle on Wednesday, while League
One Doncaster's reward for a second-round win over Hull is a trip to the
Emirates to face Arsenal.
Tottenham have been drawn to meet Barnsley or Derby County at Wembley.
Huddersfield Town will be looking for a repeat of their opening day Premier
League win over Crystal Palace as they were drawn to face Frank de Boer's
side at Selhurst Park, while Bournemouth will host Brighton.
Ronald Koeman's Everton will face Championship opponents in Sunderland,
Stoke will travel to Bristol City, West Ham will host Bolton Wanderers and
Swansea will visit Reading.
Chris Wood, who only completed his move to Turf Moor on Monday, will face
his former team-mates in the third round as Burnley were handed a home tie
against Leeds.
Aston Villa have been drawn at home against fellow Championship side
Middlesbrough, Wolves will host Bristol Rovers and Norwich will travel to
Brentford.
Ties to be played week commencing September 18.
