Chelsea
are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater,
according to Sky sources.
The England international is one of the midfielders the Premier League
champions are looking at as a possible replacement for Nemanja Matic, who
has been sold to Manchester United for £40m.
Chelsea have already bought Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, but Blues manager
Antonio Conte wants to sign another midfielder.
The Italian has already asked Bayern Munich about signing Renato Sanches and
Drinkwater is also on his list of targets.
However, Leicester are under no pressure to sell Drinkwater and he is not
for sale, having signed a new four-year contract last summer.
The 27-year-old was an integral part of the Leicester team that won the
title in 2015-16 and his performances earned him a call-up to the England
squad in March 2016.
N'Golo Kante, who partnered Drinkwater in that title-winning Leicester
midfield, joined Chelsea last summer for £30m and has enjoyed great success
at Stamford Bridge.
The Frenchman was a member of the Premier League-winning team for the second
season in a row and won the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards.
Drinkwater aside, Chelsea's other midfield targets include Everton's Ross
Barkley and Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
