As
the January transfer window approaches, here are all the key dates affecting
Premier League clubs...
When does the transfer window open?
The transfer window opens in England on Saturday, January 2, 2016.
When does the transfer window close?
The transfer window closes at 11pm in England on Monday, February 1, 2016.
How will window dates across Europe affect Premier League clubs?
The transfer window in France also opens on January 2 but Premier League
clubs will have to wait until at least January 4 to sign players from Italy
or Spain. The transfer window in Germany opens on New Year's Day.
Any deals between Premier League clubs and players in Spain will have to be
wrapped up 24 hours before the window closes in England - the deadline in
Spain is 11pm (GMT) on January 31. The windows in France and Italy close on
the same day as in England, with the German transfer window shutting at 5pm
on February 2.
Will transfer records be broken in 2016?
January 2015 saw Premier League clubs splash £130m on new players. They then
followed that up with a bumper summer spending spree topping £870m. A total
of £1bn in 12 months!
A repeat of last January's transfers would see 2015/16 become the first
season in which clubs have spent £1bn on new players.
With the title race and relegation battle wide open and involving a whole
host of teams, can we expect clubs to spend big to make this season a
success?
