After
Jose Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea on Thursday, we take a look at the stats
behind his time in the Premier League.
Mourinho leaves Chelsea 16th in the table after a dismal start to the season
that has seen them lose nine matches and pick up just 15 points.
Here's a look at some of the figures behind his second spell at Stamford
Bridge…
Percentage play
During his first spell with Chelsea from 2004-2007, Mourinho's win
percentage was 70.8 at an average of 2.33 points per game. It was the best
win percentage of any Chelsea manager in the Premier League aside from Guus
Hiddink.
However, things did not go so well second time around.
His win percentage was 59.8, lower than Carlo Ancelotti and Avram Grant, and
his side averaged two points per game. He also suffered 18 defeats over the
two-and-a-half year spell, more than any other Chelsea manager dating back
to Claudio Ranieri in 2004.
Pointing out the positive
Results this season might have been bad, but Mourinho still holds the best
points-per-game average of any Premier League manager.
He averages 2.19 with a win percentage of 66, putting him above Sir Alex
Ferguson (2.16 points per game), Manuel Pellegrini (2.14 points per game)
and Ancelotti (2.07 points per game).

Defenceless
With 16 games of the season gone, Chelsea have made the worst-ever start to
a defence of a Premier League title.
They have lost more games than any other defending champion at this stage of
the season, have a worse goal difference and have conceded more goals than
any other side apart from Manchester United in 2001/02.
Bad start
With nine defeats and just 15 points this is Chelsea's worst start to a
season since 1961/62, when they were relegated.
Only five times in their history have the Blues lost more games at this
stage of the campaign.
Losses mount up
This season has been historically bad for both Chelsea and Mourinho, who had
never before lost more than six games in an entire league season.
Those six losses came at Chelsea in 2013/14 while in 2001/02, 2005/06 and
2012/13 he lost five games over the course of the campaign.
