Chelsea
captain John Terry predicts new signing Radamel Falcao will be a massive hit
this season.
The Monaco striker spent last season on loan at Manchester United but he has
joined Chelsea for the forthcoming campaign.
Terry revealed that Falcao gave him a torrid time when Chelsea faced United
in April last season, and from what he has seen in training during
pre-season, the Blues skipper is predicting big things.
"His movement is unbelievable and literally two minutes into the game we
played against Manchester United last season I turned to Gaz (Cahill) and
said 'we need to be on it today'.
"After two minutes he'd given me an elbow, he was backing into me, he was
coming short, running in behind - he wouldn't leave me alone. He was up for
it.
"Now I have seen him first hand in training on a daily basis and his
finishing is unbelievable. I think if he gets a run in the side he can
reproduce his form of the past.
“His career has been all about goals and scoring goals on the big occasion
so I’m hoping that is what he brings to the side. He wants to succeed and no
doubt that is why he has come to us
“He wants us to win things and if we are to win things he is going to have
to score a lot of goals. We are hoping that it is a great combination and he
does really well for us.”
Terry expects another tough battle for the Premier League title, but says
that Chelsea’s greatest asset is their manager, Jose Mourinho.
"To improve upon what he was is some task but I’ve seen him make slight
improvements all over,” he said. “When you are talking about the very best
improving there are only slight improvements you can make and he is the very
best.
"We are very lucky to have him. He pushes us on a daily basis. He hates
losing and the intensity is 100 per cent. If you don’t give everything you
won’t fit into his regime and that’s why we have seen players come and go
over the years including big players.
"His desire to win on a daily basis and that hunger is what sets him apart
from everyone."
