Terry admits losing to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield was a painful
experience but insists the result will have no bearing on the Premier League
title race.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's strike saw Arsenal run out 1-0 winners at Wembley
as Arsene Wenger inflicted defeat on Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho for
the first time in 14 meetings.
But Chelsea skipper Terry does not believe Arsenal’s victory gives them any
kind of psychological edge in the race for the title this season.
“I don't think so,” Terry said, when asked if the result can impact the
Premier League title race.
“I think it's one of them where they'll probably come out and say
differently. They do mean something, but win or lose, I don't think you can
say that (it will affect the league).
“Losing is just horrible in all aspects... forgetting the record, it's a
trophy that's gone now.
“It means a lot, because you've earned the right to be here so we're just
disappointed. It hurts. It doesn't matter if it's a friendly or the
Community Shield - it's a trophy at the end of the day.”
