FIFA's
medical committee will discuss Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's treatment of
club doctor Eva Carneiro at their next meeting in September.
The committee's chairman Michael D'Hooghe has confirmed that the incident in
which Mourinho lambasted Carneiro on the pitch, and then subsequently banned
her indefinitely from the Blues dugout, will be on the agenda.
Mourinho has attracted heavy criticism from the sports medical profession
after labelling Carneiro and her fellow physio Jon Fearn "impulsive and
naive" for treating Eden Hazard late on in the opening day draw with
Swansea, instead of thinking about the implications on Chelsea's bid for
three points.
Carneiro has not been present on the touchline for the London club's last
two matches and D'Hooghe said: "I have put it on the agenda of the medical
committee that takes place on September 11 in Zurich.
"This is once again an example of the difficult situation of the team doctor
and I want to discuss this with my colleagues and to see if we need to give
a declaration from the medical side to help team doctors.
"The most important thing is if he arrives in a situation where he thinks he
has to judge between his medical duty and other issues then he must not
hesitate. You would expect me to support a team doctor.
"Such problems arise everywhere in the world but of course it has come up
with Mourinho and Chelsea."
Chelsea have so far refused to comment on the incident apart from a written
statement which confirmed Carneiro's indefinite demotion earlier this month.
The Gibraltarian sports medicine specialist used her Facebook page to thank
the "general public for their overwhelming support" in the wake of her role
being changed.
