Allardyce Hints At Pedro 'Panic'  (Sky Sports)

PedroJose Mourinho signed the winger from Barcelona in a £21.4m deal on Thursday, and has handed the 28-year-old his debut against West Brom.

Speaking on Super Sunday, Allardyce admitted he thinks Chelsea have reacted to their poor start by signing Pedro.

"As managers we start the season thinking we have almost got what we want," he said.

"Then, with two or three games gone, it looks like you are not where you might be and the window is shutting.

"Panic is the name of the game at this stage of the season. There is a massive panic around every owner's office, manager's office and agent's office.

"Once the window is shut, that's it."

Pedro becomes Chelsea's highest-profile signing of the summer, and Jamie Redknapp believes the Blues have got a good deal.

"£21m doesn't seem extortionate," he said.

"You look at his CV, the amount of goals he has scored, the amount of medals he has won, you are bringing in a quality player with assists and is very unselfish.

"He should be a very good signing for Chelsea."
