Chelsea
striker Diego Costa could face a race against time to be fit for the start
of the Premier League season after being forced to miss Sunday’s Community
Shield against Arsenal.
Costa was omitted from the Blues' matchday squad with what boss Jose
Mourinho described as "discomfort in his hamstring".
The Spain international was expected to play some part against Arsenal after
Mourinho told reporters on Friday he had no injury worries ahead of the game
against their London rivals.
When asked over the fitness of his squad on Friday, Mourinho said: "All
good."
He added: "There are no concerns, no protections (for Costa). We have three
top strikers. I’m not worried. No problem."
Costa joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in a £26.5m deal last summer.
Despite straining his hamstring on a number of occasions last term, Costa
scored 20 Premier League goals as he won the title in his first season in
England.
