Chelsea
have held talks with Roma about signing defender Kostas Manolas, Sky sources
understand.
Sky in Italy believe the centre-back is wanted by new Chelsea head coach
Antonio Conte, who signed a three-year contract on Monday to take over at
Stamford Bridge after his spell as Italy boss ends after Euro 2016.
Greece international Manolas began his career at AEK Athens before joining
Olympiakos in 2012.
The 24-year-old then made the move to Serie A in August 2014 for £10.3m and
has since established himself as a regular in the team, making 79
appearances for Roma.
John Terry looks set to leave the club in the summer after being told he
will not be offered a new deal.
Terry's departure would see the club lose an influential figure and Chelsea
appear to have earmarked Manolas - who has played 23 times for his country -
as his replacement.
