Chelsea
playmaker Eden Hazard is determined to end a season of ignominy on a high
note as he prepares to face rivals Tottenham.
Hazard, who lost his PFA Player of the Year crown to Riyad Mahrez on Sunday,
has suffered a miserable campaign, scoring his first goals of the season in
last weekend's win over Bournemouth.
His own personal struggles have been mirrored by his club, with Chelsea
languishing 22 points behind second-placed Spurs, but Hazard believes it is
important the Blues give the fans hope that things will improve next season
by performing in their final four matches of the season.
"Yes, the game is important," Hazard told the official club website. "But
also the next one and the next one and the next one. We have four games to
play and we want to finish the best we can.
"Four games and if we can beat all of the four opponents it will be good.
"It is important to finish the season well, for the players who go to the
Euros and to prepare for the next season, because we have a lot of games
again to play next season and if we want to start really well next season we
have to finish this season well."
Hazard has made no secret of his desire to end Spurs fading title hopes by
beating them on Monday and he is looking forward to an electric atmosphere
at Stamford Bridge.
"When you are on the pitch you are concentrated just on beating the team but
you can feel in the stadium that the atmosphere is a bit different when you
play Spurs than playing other teams, because for the fans it is very
important and for us as well."
