Chelsea
boss Jose Mourinho has rubbished suggestions his side are 'boring',
insisting 18 other teams in the Premier League could be tarred with that
brush.
The Blues departed the Emirates Stadium on Sunday to a chorus of 'boring,
boring Chelsea' from Arsenal supporters after a 0-0 draw edged them closer
to a first Premier League title since 2010.
But Mourinho was quick to point out his side have won more games and secured
more points than any other team, with only current champions Manchester City
having scored more goals.
He said: "It cannot be true. If we are boring, and the number of goals
decides if a team is boring or not, then 18 teams in the Premier League are
more boring than us.
"Only Man City have more quality than us in these terms; if football is
about the number of goals that you score. This is a criteria I can accept
and if that is the case, Chelsea is the second best team.
"But if a good team is the one with more points, or most victories, or least
defeats, or the team that leads the league, then Chelsea is the best team.
"In any point of analysis, any criteria you can find, we are the best team
or the second best team. Simple as that."
Mourinho aimed a swipe at Arsenal in his post-match press conference,
insisting their 10-year wait for a Premier League title is boring.
And he said: "I met an Arsenal fan this morning that lives almost next door
to me - an Arsenal fan for more than 50 years - and he congratulated me for
my press conference and said I was spot-on."
