Chelsea
boss Jose Mourinho has counted himself out of the running to be named the
Barclays Manager of the Season.
The Portuguese boss says he has 'no chance' of lifting the accolade despite
bookmakers making him clear favourite to succeed last year's winner Tony
Pulis.
“My manager of the year, I don’t know,” said Mourinho when questioned about
by the LMA gong which will be announced next month.
However, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss was in no dout about
the chances of him adding to the two awards he picked up during his first
stint with Chelsea.
He added: “No, I’m the last one, the last one because I never got manager of
the month, so how can I think about the manager of the season.
“So, I’m out of that, but I’m not here to win the manager of the season, I’m
here to win the Premier League.”
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has won the award a
record 11 times while last year Pulis was rewarded for keeping Crystal
Palace in the Premier League.
